Virtual Lecture Series on Medicine and the Holocaust
During the spring semester, the Center collaborated with the Holocaust Studies Program of Western Galilee College, Israel, in creating a unique opportunity for the Appalachian community and the public to learn about the latest research in the rapidly expanding sub-field of medicine and the Shoah. Our lecture series featured seven key experts from Israel, the US and Europe, ranging from Prof. Adam Stabholz (Hebrew University), whose father played a key role in establishing the underground medical school in the Warsaw Ghetto, to Dr. Tessa Chelouche (Maimonides Institute for Medicine, Ethics and the Holocaust), who corrected popular misconceptions about medical ethics in Nazi Germany. The collaboration with WGC started with a joint conference in Israel in 2019.
